Poached Spiced Pears
- 200ml grape juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cardamom pods
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 4 ripe pears, peeled, cores removed and halved
Put the grape juice, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods and vanilla essence into a large pan with 300ml water.
Heat gently being careful not to boil. This will only take a few minutes. Add the pears. Cover and simmer gently for 10–12 minutes or until the pears are softened slightly.
Serve the pears hot with a little of the cooking liquid.
